What Photon Ledger does on your machine
Photon Ledger is desktop software. When you run a scan, it reads FITS headers from files in folders you choose and writes a local database (SQLite or PostgreSQL, your choice). It does not read pixel data, and it does not upload your scan results, images, file paths, or filenames anywhere.
What we collect on the website
- Newsletter signups. If you submit the newsletter form, we store your email address, the page you signed up from, your IP, and your user agent, so we can send you release notes and (where applicable) honor unsubscribe requests.
- Purchases. When you buy Pro, Stripe processes the payment. We receive a payment confirmation from Stripe (email, country for VAT, charge ID). We never see or store your card number.
- Analytics. We may add privacy-respecting analytics in future to count page views and conversion events (newsletter signup, download click, checkout start). When enabled, no advertising cookies or cross-site tracking will be used; this section will be updated with the provider name before any data is collected.
License revocation rechecks
If you activate a Pro license in the app, roughly once a week the app will POST a small request to https://photonledger.ekeservices.com/api/license/validate. The request contains only:
- your license ID (a random UUID issued at purchase);
- an opaque machine fingerprint hash (one-way SHA-256 of your OS username, machine identifier, and a salt) used to detect license abuse;
- your IP address, by virtue of making the HTTPS connection.
Your scan data, file paths, archive contents, and personal information are never sent. If the request fails, the app continues to work; it tries again next launch.
We send transactional email (purchase receipts, license deliveries, support replies) and the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time via the link in each email; transactional emails are sent only when you take an action that requires them.
Data retention
Newsletter rows are kept until you unsubscribe (and for a short period afterward for audit). License rows are kept for the life of the license. Stripe retains payment records per their own policy.
Your rights
You can request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing support@ekeservices.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
